Mathematics for Struggling Learners

New Professional Learning Opportunity!

FDLRS Reach in conjunction with the Exceptional Student Education and Support Services Division of Broward County Schools is proud to present a new professional learning opportunity that Naomi Church will be facilitating in Fall 2016 to address struggling learners in mathematics. This is a strategy based professional learning that will assist teachers in how to implement effective research based strategies across all educational environments.

This blended learning module including a one-day workshop and continuing online follow-up is designed to introduce participants to subitizing, fluency in mathematics, authentic fluency assessments and problem solving strategies to assist struggling learners.  In addition to the 6 hours of face-to-face training, there will be 4 hours of embedded follow up facilitated through Canvas, the district’s new Learning Management System (LMS).  You will earn a total of 10 inservice points toward recertification and SB1108 for this professional learning opportunity.

Registration will be for teams of 2-5 professionals from a school site possibly including, but not limited to: an ESE Support facilitator, Math Coach/contact, and K-8 teachers of students struggling in mathematics.   When you attend and implement in teams you are better able to support each other with effective, meaningful implementation which leads to increased student success.

When will this opportunity be offered?  September 6October 6, or November 3
